I am up and awake at 3:30am and came across your posting. I actually woke up thinking about how much I miss my regular yoga hikes with my husband. I realize that I especially miss the one in San Francisco that goes by Grace Cathedral since I would often finish my yoga hike practice with a walk of the fabulous outdoor labyrinth. Tomorrow, or rather, in a few hours, I will be attending the Yoga Journal Conference and am thrilled see that hikingyoga.com sessions are all sold out again this year--in spite of adding 2 more yoga hikes! With our 4 and a half month old daughter in tow, participating in one of those full yoga hikes is unfortunately not in the cards for me this year. On a promising note though, I am thrilled to have found a labyrinth nearby that I can walk to with baby and all. I will focus my energies in walking that one as soon as I come back from the conference. Thanks for the inspiring post!

Jen,
You're so right, thank you for your insight. I agree that to a great extent our society has lost our connection with nature. It seems to me that many of us are not even conscious of this loss, instead confusing our emptiness with an appetite for more "stuff." Spending a little time just appreciating nature's uniqueness can be grounding and refreshing, fulfilling us without emptying our pocketbooks!

Great reminder, I especially like the part about grounding. It's so easy to lose track of this need. Nature is unique and special, and we have largely forgotten that in our society.
